North Korea

I've watched a couple other movies and documentaries on North Korea before and I was never able to comprehend how customed the people were to living there. Seeing the blind people receive their sight back and the first thing they did was praise their 'Dear Leader' gave me goosebumps. How and why on earth would they and should they be praising Kim JOng Il after all the corruption and death he caused? This made me think back to the question on that worksheet rita was talking about. Do people actually love Kim Jong Il, their Dear Leader' or are they praising him out of fear?
Well I actually think that it could be both, either way they would both end up at the same place. Just like rita mentioned, I think that at first the people would praise, worship, and follow Kim JOng Il because of fear. Who wouldn't be afraid of Kim's bold stricken army, strict rules, absolute power, and the many concentration camps that can possibly be led to deaths? I think that at first because of fear, their tongues are kept shut in order from facing death and sooner or later that fear driven devotion to Kim can possibly be looked upon as dedication and love towards him through generation after generation. I don't think we'll be able to understand and comprehend what they are going through unless we are actually there in someone's shoe. If you were a young North Korean how would you know you're doing something wrong or stupid, by praising someone who is actually tearing apart a nation, if you've been brainwashed ever since you were little?
