I think it is a good idea that smoking is banned in public places because personally I hate the smell of smoke and it is hard for me to breath around it. It makes situations and places a lot more comfortable for others who do not like the smell of smoke. It also helps eliminate smokers all together because of the rising prices in cigs and now this new law. I also think it is just respectful and polite for people to not smoke in public places and close to a public gathering. I think it is shocking that we even have to have a law banning it. People should know better that it is just rude to do it where there could be people who maybe cannot tolerate it or may be affected in some other way. It is not like this law is hurting anyone, it is simply forcing peope to do what should be happening anyways. I do think the fine however is a little harsh, but that incentive is something I guess that might encourage people to follow the law.
