writers week
One of my favorite things about writers week is hearing from the students. I think a lot of adults sometimes don't really realize how much potential and talent high school students have when it comes to writing. Students that I've heard speak at writers week have impressed me more than some professionals. Hearing from students is good because they bring up topics or stories that the audience can relate to since the age group is similar. The detail and vocabulary used in people's writing really amazes me because it really puts me in that moment and I feel like I'm experiencing the same circumstance that they are writing about. Most of all I loved a humorous speech given by two girls 3rd hour about applying for colleges. I love it when students use satire or comedy to write because it makes it so much more entertaining.
